Therapy
with Lili

You don’t have to keep carrying this alone.
Trauma-informed talk therapy and EMDR helps you feel safe, understand yourself more deeply, and move towards a more fulfilling life.

About Me

Born and raised in England to Hong Kong Chinese parents, I'm a BACP-accredited psychotherapist with a Master's in Integrative Therapy (with Distinction) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology.  Before training as a therapist, I worked in Marketing and Advertising for many well known companies in London.

My curiosity about people and own personal adversities led me to this second career and I am genuinely committed to every client I work with.  I understand that finding the right therapist can feel daunting and am intentional about offering a space that's safe, calm, non-judgemental and genuinely your own.

I offer comprehensive therapy for mental health and emotional difficulties, specialising in complex trauma as well as relationship and emotional regulation problems.  My approach is always tailored exactly to teach client I work with.  There is no one size fits all.

Frameworks I use include person-centred, CBT and ACT and I am trained to Level 3 in attachment focused EMDR, which helps with healing old wounds and patterns that keep you stuck.

I offer sessions in-person, from  consulting rooms in Brighton and Hove, as well as online.

Outside of work I am a mother of two children under 12 and enjoy literature, the arts, yoga, nature, food and travel.

Something happened a long time ago, but part of you still reacts as though it's happening now.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps you process experiences that are unresolved. You may understand what happened, yet find that certain memories, situations or relationships continue to trigger strong emotional or physical reactions. You might feel anxious, overwhelmed, ashamed or stuck.
EMDR works with the way the brain naturally processes experience. Using bilateral stimulation, it helps painful memories lose their charge, so they start to feel like something that has passed, rather than something that's still happening.
You don't have to go through it in detail
You won't be asked to describe everything that happened, over and over. I will go at a pace that feels right for you and you won't be overwhelmed by it. You stay in the driver's seat throughout.
EMDR helps with trauma, anxiety, phobias, low self-worth, and the kind of old experiences that subconsciously shape how you think, feel and relate to people now.

You can't change what happened. But you can change the hold it has on you and that transformation is possible with EMDR.

Attachment Focused EMDR

Why choose my practice?

I will guide you not just towards deeper insight, but lasting change.

Many clients seek help already knowing why they struggle and can recount their past perfectly, but the hard feelings remain.

In my clinic, I integrate EMDR with appropriate talk therapies for a roots and branches approach. You will be able to address the root of your pain and trace it to the effects on your current life. The difference with this approach is that you will experience lasting internal change.

Client Testimonial:

Lili is a counsellor who goes above and beyond.  I first started seeing Lili for help with my prenatal anxieties and she was a great source of support throughout my pre and postnatal journey, helping me understand how my past traumas contribute to my current anxiety and fears. The personal growth has been much more than I expected going into this process.

(N, female client).

The Journey

What to expect in sessions

Starting therapy can feel like stepping into the unknown, so here's a sense of what it's actually like. Your first session is mostly getting to know you — what's brought you here, what you're hoping for, and any questions you have about how I work.

From there, I can begin to put together a treatment plan and the following sessions tend to be a mix of structure and open conversation: there's enough of a framework to keep things focused and moving forward, but room for what's actually on your mind that week. There's no script to follow and the pace and direction is shaped by what you need.
